Maple syrup is one of the best things that you can add to your food if you want it to have extra sweet flavor. However, with the recent economic crisis, almost every product is increasing in value. Maple syrups are made semi-manually so the price has the tendency to increase. Luckily, if you have a maple tree in your own backyard, then you can choose to just do canadian pure maple syrup on your own.
First of, you need to have bucket or any kind of container with a cover, pan for boiling the sap (preferably stainless steel), thermometer, drill and drill bit, storage containers for the sap, cheesecloth or filter for filtering the finished product, containers for the syrup and the spile or spout.
Find a maple tree and drill it. Just make sure that it is thick or else you won’t get the sap. Tap the spile into any hole in the tree. Hang a bucket or any other container of choice in the spile just right in front of the hole you drilled. Once the containers get filled with sap, refrigerate it. Now, you boil the sap until it becomes syrup. When it is at its syrup form, use the cheesecloth and filter it. You will see that crystallized materials will be left in there. You may choose to refrigerate the syrup and just get when you need it.
